ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Ali Amin Gandapur, has reaffirmed that the agreement between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and opposition parties regarding Senate seats remains solid despite mounting resistance. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Gandapur made it clear that the PTI-opposition Senate seats pact is still in place, dismissing recent rumors and speculations.
Gandapur’s comments come after some dissenting voices within the political landscape questioned the terms and future of the deal. Critics have raised concerns over the fairness of the seat distribution and the possible implications for upcoming Senate elections. However, the minister stressed that these concerns would not derail the pact, as the PTI and opposition parties had already reached a mutual agreement. He added that both sides were committed to honoring their respective parts of the deal.

The PTI-opposition Senate seats pact is viewed as a significant political move aimed at ensuring balanced representation in the upper house of parliament. It involves the distribution of seats between the ruling PTI and the opposition parties, allowing for a more even playing field in the Senate elections. However, some political analysts have pointed out that the arrangement may face challenges, particularly from those who believe it undermines their party’s position.
Despite the resistance, Gandapur emphasized that the PTI-opposition Senate seats pact will not be compromised. He reiterated that both the PTI leadership and the opposition were in agreement and would work together to ensure the success of the arrangement. The federal minister also rejected claims that the deal was temporary or subject to change due to political pressure.
The Senate, which plays a key role in passing legislation and overseeing the government’s actions, is often seen as a battleground for political parties. The PTI-opposition Senate seats pact is expected to have a significant impact on the political dynamics in the country, as both the ruling party and opposition groups strive for control over the chamber.
As the date for the Senate elections approaches, it remains to be seen how the political landscape will evolve. However, for now, Ali Amin Gandapur’s statement has provided clarity on the PTI-opposition agreement, asserting that the pact remains intact amid growing resistance from various quarters.
The coming days will reveal whether this deal can withstand the pressure and continue to hold up as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s political future.
