The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for Heavy rain across Punjab. Residents have been advised to take safety measures in the coming days.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, the weather system will begin on April 1. The spell of Heavy rain is expected to continue until April 4. Many parts of the province may experience strong showers during this period.
Several major cities are likely to receive rainfall. These include Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Chiniot. Other affected areas include Rawalpindi, Murree, and the Galyat region. Districts such as Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Gujranwala are also on the alert list.
More districts have been included in the warning. These include Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin. Southern areas like Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan may also receive rainfall.
Officials have warned that rivers and streams could swell in some regions. This is especially likely in Dera Ghazi Khan and the Sulaiman Range. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Following instructions from the provincial government, all departments are on high alert. District commissioners and deputy commissioners have been asked to stay prepared. Emergency response teams have also been activated.
Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of PDMA, stated that rescue teams are ready. District administrations have been instructed to respond quickly if needed. He also warned about possible landslides in hilly areas.
Residents living in vulnerable locations have been advised to remain cautious. Travelers should avoid unnecessary movement during Heavy rain periods. People are also encouraged to follow official updates and safety guidelines.
