Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday announced Rs10 billion financial assistance for Balochistan Security Forces, highlighting Punjab’s commitment to peace and stability in the province.
The announcement was made during her visit to Quetta, where she attended a ceremony at the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters.
CM Maryam Nawaz’s visit comes after coordinated attacks on January 31 across 12 towns in Balochistan, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. These attacks targeted civilians and caused significant security challenges.
Following the attacks, Balochistan Security Forces launched Operation Raddul Fitna 1. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that 216 India-sponsored terrorists were eliminated during coordinated operations.
Unfortunately, the operations also resulted in the loss of 36 innocent civilians, including women and children, along with 22 personnel from security and law enforcement agencies.
During her visit, CM Maryam Nawaz met with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. She praised the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan.
“The spirit of the people of Balochistan and their attachment to Pakistan is commendable,” she said, adding that the Punjab government will provide all possible support to address the province’s challenges.
She emphasized that national unity is essential to eliminate terrorism and ensure peace. “We stand with Balochistan. Our goal is to achieve stability, security, and prosperity in the province,” Maryam Nawaz stated.
Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz met Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail at the Governor House. The discussion focused on the province’s law and order situation, political developments, and inter-provincial cooperation.
Governor Mandokhail highlighted the importance of promoting harmony between provinces and strengthening mutual ties.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield and a traditional carpet to CM Maryam Nawaz as a gesture of goodwill.
