Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was briefed on the newly established Crime Control Department (CCD), a specialized unit aimed at reducing seven major forms of organised crime through modern technology. This initiative, approved by the CM, seeks to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property across the province.
The CCD will be equipped with drone surveillance technology to respond swiftly to criminal incidents. In the event of a crime, surveillance drones will reach the scene within five minutes, providing real-time monitoring to assist in the rapid apprehension of suspects, particularly in cases of murder and rape.

Three DIGs, an SSP, and SPs will be positioned in divisional headquarters, while DSPs will be assigned to each district. The department will consist of 4,258 officials, with 2,258 officers being transferred from the Punjab Police to expedite its establishment.
The CM also approved the provision of buildings, vehicles, and equipment for the CCD and called for immediate legislative steps to support its formation. She emphasized the importance of acquiring the best technology to combat crime and urged the department to instill fear in criminal elements to reduce the crime rate in Punjab.
