The decision underscores fears that large public gatherings could become targets for terrorist attacks. Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman clarified that peaceful protests are permitted but warned of administrative action if roads are obstructed.

The implementation of Section 144 is a precautionary step to ensure public safety amid heightened security alerts.
