Punjab has recorded a significant decline in fatal Road Accidents during 2026, according to Punjab Traffic Police.
In a statement issued on September 29, officials reported a 34 percent reduction in fatal crashes across the province.
The Punjab Traffic Police said fatal accidents declined across 26 districts. Officials linked the improvement to stronger enforcement and road safety measures.
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir praised traffic police personnel for their efforts. He said safer roads remain a key part of the Safe Punjab mission.
Three Districts Record 100% Decline
According to the Traffic Police spokesperson, Khushab, Murree and Muzaffargarh recorded a 100 percent reduction in fatal accidents this year.
Seven districts also reported fewer than two fatal accidents during the year.
Lahore recorded a 14 percent decline in fatal crashes. Other districts reported even larger reductions.
Sahiwal recorded an 82 percent decrease in fatal accidents. Layyah reported a 75 percent reduction, while Rahim Yar Khan recorded a 74 percent decline.
Traffic Enforcement and Awareness Campaigns
Muhammad Waqas Nazir said authorities studied the causes behind fatal Road Accidents and introduced preventive measures.
He said strict traffic enforcement and public awareness campaigns helped reduce serious crashes.
Traffic Police also took action against drivers violating traffic laws. Officials said these measures were applied without discrimination.
Technology has also played a role in improving traffic management across Punjab.
According to the statement, the One App challan system has supported better enforcement. Modern cameras are also being used to improve traffic discipline.
Punjab Expands Road Safety Measures
Punjab Traffic Police said road safety measures are being expanded across the province.
The department aims to make travel safer and reduce the risk of fatal Road Accidents further.
Officials said protecting human lives remains a priority for Traffic Police. The department is continuing measures aimed at safer travel on provincial roads.
Muhammad Waqas Nazir also urged motorists to follow traffic regulations.
He said compliance with traffic laws can protect drivers, passengers and other road users.
Punjab Traffic Police said it would continue enforcement, awareness campaigns and technology-based monitoring under its road safety strategy.
