Government Employees To Receive Early Salaries And Pensions Ahead of Eidul Adha

Government Employees To Receive Early Salaries And Pensions Ahead of Eidul Adha

The Punjab government has announced early payments for its employees and pensioners ahead of Eidul Adha 2026. The decision will help people get early access to their salaries and pensions before the festival.

According to the Punjab Finance Department, payments for May will be released on May 21. This move will allow thousands of workers and retirees to get early financial support for their Eid preparations.

Officials said the step was taken to ease financial pressure during the festive season. Eidul Adha is a major religious event, and expenses usually increase during this time. The government wants employees to get early funds to manage these costs.

All departments have been directed to ensure timely processing of payments. The State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks have also been instructed to assist in smooth transactions. Authorities aim to avoid delays so that everyone can get early access to their money.

The initiative reflects the governmentโ€™s effort to support public sector workers. Pensioners will also benefit from this decision. They will get early payments to meet their daily needs and Eid-related expenses.

Meanwhile, preparations for Eidul Adha 2026 are already underway across the country. Citizens are also waiting for the official holiday schedule. Early estimates suggest that people may enjoy four to five days off during the festival.

The final holiday plan will depend on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is expected to meet on May 17. Its decision will determine the exact dates of Eid celebrations.

If the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid may fall between May 27 and May 29. This could allow a longer holiday period, including the weekend. In that case, many people will benefit from both early payments and extended holidays.

If the moon is not sighted, Eid may be observed a day later. This would still provide a shorter holiday break. However, the early salary release will still help people get early financial relief.

Overall, the decision is seen as a positive step for public convenience. It ensures that employees and pensioners can plan ahead and celebrate Eid with ease.
