The Punjab School Education Department has strongly dismissed a viral notification circulating on social media that falsely claimed all schools across the province would remain closed from April 6 to April 25, 2026.
The fake notice suggested that rising petrol prices were the reason behind the alleged closure of educational institutions. However, officials clarified that no such decision has been taken by the provincial government at any level.
A spokesperson for the provincial education minister, Noor Ul Huda, confirmed that the notification is completely fabricated and urged citizens to rely only on verified government announcements for accurate information.
Authorities warned that sharing unverified posts can create unnecessary panic among parents and students, while also disrupting school operations and academic planning across Punjab. The department emphasized that misinformation spreads quickly and can cause confusion within the education system.
The education department reiterated that any changes to school schedules, holidays, or academic calendars will be officially communicated through government notifications and trusted media channels only.
Officials also appealed to the public to act responsibly on social media by avoiding the circulation of fake news, stressing that responsible information sharing is essential to maintain clarity and stability in the education sector.
