Punjab Launches Action Against LPG Overpay

The Punjab government has announced a crackdown on LPG dealers found selling gas at inflated prices, aiming to protect consumers from unfair practices. Authorities have been instructed to enforce the official rates set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the relevant departments to ensure strict compliance, emphasizing that no dealer should charge above the official LPG price. The government has vowed to take immediate action against violators to safeguard public interest.

The initiative comes amid reports of LPG prices spiking up to 48 percent above the regulated rate in major cities, creating financial strain for ordinary citizens. Authorities are now tasked with monitoring sales and penalizing non-compliant dealers.

Punjabโ€™s chief minister highlighted that the government is committed to providing maximum relief to citizens and will not allow anyone to increase public difficulties by overcharging for essential commodities.

This crackdown reflects a broader effort by the provincial government to stabilize prices of basic goods and ensure fair access to essential resources for all residents.
