Punjab has announced a new admission policy for MBBS and BDS programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. The policy applies to public and private medical and dental colleges across the province.

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) will manage the centralised admission process. Students seeking admission must meet the eligibility requirements and follow the announced procedures.

MDCAT Remains Mandatory for Admission

Under the new policy, passing the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) remains compulsory for applicants.

The admission merit formula includes three academic components. MDCAT scores will contribute 50% to the overall merit calculation.

FSc marks will account for 40%, while matriculation results will contribute the remaining 10%.

This formula will determine candidates’ positions on the admission merit lists.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS and BDS

Candidates must obtain at least 60% marks in FSc to qualify for admission.

Applicants must also pass Biology and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. Additionally, they must pass either Physics or Mathematics.

Students who fail to meet these academic requirements will not qualify under the announced admission criteria.

College Preference Rules for Applicants

The policy introduces different college preference requirements for public and private institutions.

Students applying to public medical colleges must list all colleges according to their preferred order. Meanwhile, applicants seeking admission to private medical colleges can select as many preferences as they wish.

There is no restriction on the number of private medical colleges candidates may include in their applications.

Admission Fee Payment Deadline

Successful candidates must deposit their admission fees within three working days after the merit list is published. Applicants should carefully monitor admission announcements to avoid missing this deadline.

The policy requires selected students to complete their fee payments within the specified period.

Public Medical College Tuition Fees

Punjab has fixed the annual tuition fee for open-merit seats at public medical and dental colleges at Rs. 50,000. This fee applies to students admitted through the open-merit category at government institutions.

The announced policy outlines the academic requirements, merit formula, college preferences, and payment deadlines for the upcoming session.

Students planning to pursue MBBS or BDS should review these conditions before submitting their applications.
