Rustam Ali Bhatti is posted at Fatah Sher Police Station in Sahiwal. Bashir Ahmed Bhatti serves as the caretaker of the shrine of Hazrat Diwan Baba Haji Sher.
The shrine is located in village 55/5-L, within Sahiwal tehsil. The incident reportedly occurred during a festival held at the religious site.
The video spread widely across social media platforms. It allegedly shows the Punjab Police ASI throwing currency notes towards dancers during the gathering.
The footage prompted criticism from social media users. The incident also brought attention to expectations regarding the behaviour of police officers while performing public duties.
Case Registered Under Two Legal Provisions
Following directions from senior officials, Yousafwala Police registered a case against the suspects. The case was filed under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 155C of the Police Order.
The complaint was submitted by ASI Zulfikar Ali of Yousafwala Police Station. Police then took action against the individuals named in the case.
Officials arrested Rustam Ali Bhatti and placed him in police lockup. Meanwhile, police teams were dispatched to conduct raids to arrest shrine caretaker Bashir Ahmed Bhatti.
