LAHORE – The Punjab government has announced special financial assistance for registered workers ahead of Ramadan 2026. Under the Ration Card scheme, each eligible worker will receive Rs10,000 during the holy month.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The session reviewed progress on the Ramadan Relief Program. The focus was on providing support to millions of registered workers across the province.
Officials shared that workers currently receive a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000. This amount is provided through the Ration Card program to help cover basic expenses. However, due to the increased financial needs during Ramadan, the government has decided to raise the support amount.
During Ramadan 2026, each registered worker will receive Rs10,000 instead of the regular monthly subsidy. The announcement was made by Zulfiqar Ali Kharal. He confirmed that the additional funds will be distributed under the existing Ration Card system.
The Commissioner of Social Security stressed the need for strict monitoring. He directed all field offices to ensure transparency and efficiency. He said there would be no tolerance for negligence or delays in distribution.
The meeting also reviewed the pace of issuing Maryam Nawaz Ration Cards. Officials were instructed to speed up the process. The goal is to ensure that deserving workers receive timely assistance before Ramadan begins.
According to officials, millions of workers will benefit from the program. They will continue to receive their monthly subsidy. In addition, they will get the special Rs10,000 support during Ramadan.
The government aims to reduce financial pressure on low-income workers during the holy month. Authorities believe the enhanced assistance will help families manage essential expenses such as food and utilities.
Strict oversight measures will remain in place. Regular reports from field offices will be required. This is to ensure fair distribution and prevent misuse.
