Punjab Schools Summer Vacations to Begin From May 22, Full Schedule Released

Punjab Schools Summer Vacations to Begin From May 22, Full Schedule Released

The School Education Department of Punjab has officially announced Summer Vacations 2026 for all government and private schools across the province due to rising temperatures and extreme weather conditions.

According to the official schedule, schools throughout Punjab will remain closed from May 22 until August 23. Academic activities will resume on August 24 after nearly three months of holidays.

The decision was taken as temperatures continue to rise in different cities of Punjab. Authorities said the extended Summer Vacations are aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school staff from intense heat during the peak summer season.

Punjab Education Minister also confirmed the announcement through an online statement. The minister stated that the holidays will officially begin on Friday, May 22, across all schools operating under the provincial education system.

The announcement has gained significant attention among students, parents, and teachers. Many families are now adjusting their plans according to the revised academic calendar and the long holiday period.

Officials described the move as part of the regular annual schedule. However, the duration of the break has become a major topic of discussion due to the nearly three-month closure period.

The education department clarified that all public and private educational institutions in Punjab will follow the same schedule. Schools are expected to complete necessary academic activities before the closure begins later this month.

The latest decision comes as several parts of Pakistan continue experiencing unusually high temperatures. Weather experts have already warned about severe heat conditions during the upcoming summer months.

Authorities believe the extended Summer Vacations will help reduce health risks linked to extreme heat exposure. Students often face difficulties attending classes during very hot weather, especially in areas where temperatures rise significantly during daytime hours.

Many parents welcomed the announcement and said the decision would help children stay safe during harsh weather conditions. Some families are also planning travel and summer activities during the long school break.

School administrations are expected to share examination schedules, result announcements, and reopening plans before the vacations begin. Educational institutions may also issue separate instructions regarding summer assignments and holiday work for students.

The Punjab government has advised schools to ensure proper communication with parents regarding academic updates and reopening schedules. Officials said the education calendar will continue normally once schools reopen on August 24.
