The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has announced a revision of school timings for all schools operating under its management. The new school timings will be from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, schools will close earlier at 12:30 p.m.
The revised school timings will remain in effect until April 15, 2026. Authorities emphasized that the changes aim to improve efficiency and ensure better management of academic hours.
Additionally, Saturday has been declared a holiday, which was previously not observed as a weekly off by schools under the foundation. The step is part of PEF’s effort to standardize school operations and align them with modern educational practices.
The Punjab Education Foundation was established under the Punjab Education Foundation Act of 1991 as an autonomous statutory body. Its primary goal is to encourage and promote education on a non-commercial and non-profit basis. Over the years, the foundation has worked to provide free quality education to deserving children at their doorsteps.
In 2004, the foundation was restructured under the Punjab Education Foundation Act-XII to strengthen public-private partnerships in education. The organization now supports private sector efforts to provide quality education to children from low-income families.
Officials stated that the revised school timings are designed to benefit both students and teachers, ensuring a balanced schedule and improved learning environment. Parents and guardians have been requested to adjust their routines according to the new schedule.
The PEF has consistently focused on making education accessible and inclusive. With the revised school timings, the foundation aims to further enhance student engagement while maintaining a structured academic environment.
