Amidst the escalating heatwave, the provincial education minister of Punjab has unveiled the anticipated schedule for summer vacations in schools and colleges. Following a pattern similar to the previous year, educational institutions are poised to observe an extended break spanning approximately two months.
As per the announcement, summer holidays are slated to commence on June 7, 2024, and conclude on August 19, 2024. The Education Department is anticipated to issue an official notification outlining the vacation schedule in the coming weeks.

The decision comes in the wake of warnings from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), forecasting soaring temperatures in the months ahead. With projections indicating a potential maximum temperature of 49.5 degrees Celsius in June, and peaking at 48.63 degrees Celsius in August, the move aims to ensure the well-being of students and faculty during the sweltering summer months.
