ISPR Updates on Gen (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s Health After Accident

RAWALPINDI – Former Chief of Army Staff, General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, sustained injuries after an accidental fall at his residence, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Thursday.

According to ISPR, Qamar Javed Bajwa is receiving medical treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi. The retired general was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the incident.

Family sources told ARY News that the fall occurred at 4:30 AM in his bathroom. The fall resulted in a skull fracture and other injuries, prompting immediate medical attention. Bajwa remains under close observation, and doctors are providing necessary care.

Qamar Javed Bajwa, born on November 11, 1960, in Karachi, served as the 10th Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan from November 2016 to November 2022. He was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) for his services.

Educated at F.G. Sir Syed College and Gordon College in Rawalpindi, Bajwa joined the Pakistan Military Academy in 1978 and was commissioned in 1980 in the 16th Baloch Regiment, following his father’s footsteps.

During his military career, Qamar Javed Bajwa held key positions including Commander of the X Corps, Inspector General of Training and Evaluation, and Force Commander of Gilgit-Baltistan. His tenure was marked by a strong focus on counter-terrorism operations.

In 2018, Bajwa was ranked 68th on Forbes’ list of the World’s Most Powerful People. His leadership and contributions have been widely recognized both nationally and internationally.

The army’s media wing stated that Qamar Javed Bajwa’s condition is stable, and he is receiving expert medical care. Officials and well-wishers have extended prayers for his speedy recovery.
