Railway Worker Dies in Passenger Bridge Collapse at Khanewal Station

A portion of the passenger bridge at Khanewal Railway Station collapsed, resulting in one fatality and one injury. According to a railway spokesperson, a railway employee lost his life while a woman sustained injuries in the incident.

The rescue operation has been completed, and work to rebuild the bridge is set to begin today. Railway services continue to operate normally.

In response, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has taken immediate action, suspending three officers for negligence: Divisional Engineer Abid Razaq (Grade-18), Assistant Engineer Raja Yousaf (Grade-17), and Bridge Inspector Muhammad Adil (Grade-16).

The minister expressed his condolences over the tragedy and has established an inquiry committee including the CEO Railways, IG Railways, and DS Lahore to investigate the matter thoroughly.
