Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a massive Rs38 billion Ramazan Relief Package for 2026, designed to support households across Pakistan. The program is set to benefit 12.1 million families during the holy month.
Under the initiative, each household will receive Rs13,000 directly via digital wallets, ensuring fast and secure distribution. Speaking at the launch, PM Shehbaz highlighted the challenges faced in implementing the scheme, including securing bank cooperation, limited digital infrastructure, and coordination with the State Bank of Pakistan.
The relief package covers all four provinces and also extends to Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Funds will be delivered directly through digital wallets and bank accounts, making the process efficient and transparent. In addition, the stipend allocation has been increased by Rs10 billion to strengthen the program’s impact.
Describing it as the largest federal-level Ramadan relief effort in Pakistan’s history, the Prime Minister assured citizens that he will personally review the program periodically. He emphasized that transparency and efficiency remain top priorities in the distribution of funds.
International partners have also contributed support, which the Prime Minister acknowledged as crucial for the program’s success. Their involvement ensures that families set to benefit from the initiative receive assistance promptly and safely.
Analysts say the scheme is one of the most ambitious social welfare programs in Pakistan. With 12.1 million households set to benefit, the relief package promises to provide financial relief to millions of citizens, particularly low-income families, during Ramadan.
This historic initiative is expected to make a tangible difference in daily lives, helping families meet essential needs and fostering social stability across the country.
