Rana Sanaullah Rejects Reports of Prime Minister’s Replacement

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Rana Sanaullah has rejected reports claiming that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif could be replaced after the presentation of the federal budget.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Rana Sanaullah described such reports as baseless and said they were being spread to create uncertainty and instability in the country. He maintained that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was performing effectively and enjoying the confidence of the government.

According to Rana Sanaullah, Pakistan has recently received international recognition for its diplomatic efforts, particularly its role in helping ease tensions during the conflict involving the United States and Iran. He said these achievements reflected positively on the government’s performance.

The senior PML-N leader also spoke about the possibility of political dialogue between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He revealed that the PTI leadership had responded positively to the government’s proposal for talks.

He said discussions on the matter were currently taking place within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He added that the party would soon communicate its official position to PTI regarding future negotiations.

Rana Sanaullah also commented on relations with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He described the veteran politician as patriotic and experienced. He said the government would make efforts to address the concerns raised by the JUI-F leadership.

On economic matters, he stated that the finance minister had assured efforts to engage with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on tax-related concerns. He said the government was trying to secure the continuation of tax exemptions for a specific sector by consulting with the IMF.

The SAPM further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proposal for a “Meesaq-e-Istehkam-e-Pakistan” remained open. He urged opposition parties to accept the invitation and engage in dialogue on all important national issues.

Regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Rana Sanaullah said discussions had taken place about his release. However, he stressed that the matter was currently before the courts. He said the government had no role in the legal process and that only the judiciary could decide the outcome.

He also noted that experienced and qualified doctors were examining the PTI founder. His comments came amid continued political debate over the former prime minister’s legal and health-related matters.
