The district administration of Rawalpindi has officially announced a change in school timings for all government and private institutions in the Cantonment and City sub-divisions. The new schedule aims to address growing traffic and safety issues caused by ongoing construction work in the city.
According to the notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, schools will now operate from 7:45 AM to 12:45 PM. These revised school timings will remain effective until further notice. The administration has urged parents, students, and teachers to follow the new schedule strictly to ensure smooth daily operations.
Officials explained that the adjustment was necessary due to heavy construction and traffic congestion in key areas of Rawalpindi. The city has been facing severe commuting challenges, especially during school rush hours, creating delays and safety risks for students.
Authorities believe that shortening the operational hours will help reduce traffic load and provide safer travel conditions for school-going children. They also stated that the situation will continue to be monitored, and further adjustments to school timings may be made if required.
The official notification has been shared with the Chief Secretary Punjab, the Secretary to the Chief Minister, and both the Higher Education and School Education Departments. This reflects the seriousness of the administration’s concern over the ongoing disruptions.
