Rawalpindi Woman Gang-Raped by Shopkeepers Over Unpaid Debt

A shocking case has been reported in Rawalpindi, where a woman was allegedly gang-raped by two shopkeepers after failing to clear a small debt. Police confirmed that the incident took place in a private hotel on Liaquat Road, and an official case has been registered.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim said she had earlier bought chicken and vegetables on credit from the two accused, identified as Zaheer Abbas and Ahsan Shafiq. Since she was unable to pay the amount on time, the suspects allegedly used the situation to lure her into a trap.

The woman stated that while shopping in Raja Bazaar, she met Zaheer Abbas. He reportedly told her that he wanted her to meet his wife and convinced her to come along. He then took her to a private hotel, where events quickly turned threatening.

Inside the hotel room, the woman said her mobile phone was seized, and she was intimidated with threats. Terrified, she fainted. During this time, she alleged that both suspects gang-raped her. The woman also claimed the suspects recorded a video of the assault.

Following the incident, the victim revealed that she was later blackmailed with the video. The accused allegedly demanded Rs500,000 to stop its release.

She added that her husband is currently working abroad and that she had recently arranged her daughter’s wedding, which had left her under financial strain. Like many in her community, she relied on local vendors for daily essentials on credit.

Police officials have confirmed that an FIR has been filed, and investigations are ongoing. However, no arrests have been made so far. The disturbing case of the woman being gang-raped over an unpaid debt has sparked outrage and raised concerns about safety and exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
