Rickshaw Driver Booked in Okara for Playing Naseebo Lal Song

OKARA – A rickshaw driver in Okara has been booked by police for playing a song by Pakistan’s famous singer Naseebo Lal in public. The case was registered under the Punjab Sound System Act, which regulates the use of loudspeakers and sound systems across the province.

According to a spokesperson for Okara Police, the action was taken to ensure compliance with the law. The official stated that no one would be allowed to violate the regulations, and strict measures will be taken against those found guilty of misusing sound systems.

The rickshaw driver reportedly played the song at a high volume, prompting authorities to take notice. Police emphasized that such acts disturb public peace and go against the provisions of the Sound System Act.

A similar case was reported last month in Lahore, where police booked a man for playing a Noor Jehan song loudly in his car. Officials said that these actions are part of a broader effort to maintain public order and curb unnecessary noise pollution.

Understanding the Punjab Sound System Act

The Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act, 2015, was enacted to control the misuse of sound systems that could cause public nuisance or disorder. The Act aims to preserve peace, decency, and the environment by setting clear restrictions on loud sound usage.

Under the law, authorities have the power to seize any sound equipment used in violation of the Act. Offenders may face up to six months of imprisonment, along with fines ranging from Rs25,000 to Rs100,000.

Police urged citizens, including rickshaw drivers, to follow the rules and avoid using loud sound systems in public. The enforcement of this Act reflects Punjab’s commitment to maintaining social harmony and reducing noise-related disturbances.
