The federal government has appointed senior police officer Riffat Mukhtar Raja as the new Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to an official notification from the Establishment Division.
Riffat, a Grade-21 officer in the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), previously served as the inspector general of the National Highway & Motorway Police (NH&MP) and was also the Sindh police chief. His extensive law enforcement background positions him to lead the FIA during a critical phase.

In a separate development, Waqar-ud-Din Syed has been appointed as the first Director-General of the newly formed National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), operating under the Interior Division.
Waqar, a Grade-20 PSP officer and former head of the FIA Cybercrime Circle, was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his contributions to combating online crime. These appointments emphasize the government’s commitment to enhancing investigative capabilities and addressing cybersecurity challenges amidst rising threats.
