The Punjab government has launched Rs. 35 billion projects to end Rawalpindi’s water shortfall, aiming to resolve the city’s decades-old water crisis. The initiative includes multiple development schemes designed to improve water supply and storage capacity for residents.
According to officials, Rs. 35 billion projects to end Rawalpindi’s water shortfall will focus on drawing water from nearby dams and constructing new supply lines. The project also includes the rehabilitation of outdated pipelines and the installation of modern filtration plants.
A major part of the plan involves sourcing water from the Chahan and Daducha dams to meet the growing urban demand. The Punjab Chief Minister has directed authorities to ensure timely completion of these Rs. 35 billion projects to end Rawalpindi’s water shortfall and to maintain strict transparency throughout the process.

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will oversee the execution of these development works. Regular monitoring and progress reports will be submitted to the provincial government to avoid delays.
Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will bring a permanent solution to their daily water woes. The government has also assured that funds for the initiative have been secured and that no compromise will be made on quality standards.
