The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has completed the installation of advanced surveillance cameras across Rawalpindi, marking a major step toward enhancing public safety, traffic management, and crime prevention in the city.
Under the province-wide Safe City initiative, the PSCA has already set up thousands of high-definition cameras in multiple cities across Punjab. These cameras monitor vehicles and motorcycles, detect traffic violations, and automatically issue e-challans to offenders. The project aims to create safer roads, ensure smooth traffic flow, and strengthen law enforcement through real-time monitoring.
In Rawalpindi, the installation phase has reached completion, with Safe City cameras now operational at several key locations. These include COD Chowk, Fauji Foundation, Liaquat Bagh, Raja Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Commercial Market, Ali Chowhan Chowk, Ayub Park, Jinnah Park, and Chaklala Railway Station. Cameras have also been installed at Gulzar-e-Quaid, Faizabad Metro Station, Pirwadhai Mandi Stop, Saddar Bank Road, Qasim Market, Bakra Mandi Chowk, Kachehri Chowk, Rawal Road, Committee Chowk, Tench Bhatta, and Chakri Road.
Following the system’s success in Lahore and other major cities, the e-challan service has officially started in Rawalpindi. A new PSCA control center has also been established opposite Jinnah Park to monitor live footage, manage data, and process electronic challans efficiently.
Officials said that the Safe City system will not only improve traffic discipline but also help police respond quickly to crimes, accidents, and emergencies. The PSCA has urged citizens to follow traffic laws, stressing that public cooperation is vital to make Rawalpindi a safer and smarter city.
