Sapphire Textile Mills Limited has announced plans to set up a large-scale soda ash manufacturing facility through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sapphire Chemicals (Private) Limited. The new plant will have a production capacity of 220,000 tons per year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
According to the companyβs notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the project will primarily use local raw materials and is expected to generate strong financial returns upon completion. Sapphire Textile Mills confirmed that it has finalized contracts with the suppliers of plant and machinery, as well as the civil works contractor. Construction of the facility is expected to take around two years.
The company further stated that the financial close for the project is nearing completion, with a consortium of banks agreeing on project financing terms. The board of directors approved the required equity contribution and sponsorsβ support documents during a meeting held on October 29, 2025.
Alongside this development, Sapphire Textile Mills is taking strategic steps to streamline its operations. The company announced plans to integrate its spinning segment with its value-added textile business. As part of this move, it will discontinue old and uneconomic spinning operations that no longer align with its long-term growth model.
This restructuring aims to ensure more efficient use of resources while strengthening the companyβs focus on high-value textile products. Management emphasized that these initiatives reflect Sapphire Textile Millsβ commitment to operational efficiency, sustainable expansion, and enhanced value creation for shareholders.
The establishment of the soda ash manufacturing facility marks a significant milestone in the companyβs diversification strategy, positioning Sapphire Textile Mills as a key player in Pakistanβs growing chemical manufacturing sector.
