Saudi Arabia Detains Six Pakistanis Over Hajj Rule Violations

Saudi Arabia Detains Six Pakistanis Over Hajj Rule Violations

Saudi Arabia has increased enforcement of pilgrimage regulations and detained six Pakistani nationals for violating Hajj rules. The action comes as authorities tighten security ahead of the annual pilgrimage season.

According to reports, one individual was arrested for violating Hajj regulations by staying in Makkah without a valid Hajj permit. Five others were detained for allegedly assisting pilgrims without official authorization.

Officials confirmed that access to Makkah is now strictly controlled. Only individuals holding official Hajj visas are allowed to enter or stay in the holy city. This rule is part of enhanced security measures during the pilgrimage period.

Authorities warned that anyone found violating Hajj entry rules after April 18 is considered in breach of Saudi law. This includes people staying on tourist or temporary visas beyond the permitted deadline.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued strict penalties for non-compliance. Fines for violating Hajj permit regulations can range from 20,000 to 100,000 Saudi riyals.

Officials also reminded that individuals holding Umrah visas were required to leave the Kingdom by April 18. Failure to comply can result in fines, up to six months imprisonment, and deportation.

In addition, providing accommodation or assistance to unauthorized pilgrims is also an offense. Such actions are treated seriously and may result in heavy penalties under the law.

Authorities stressed that violating Hajj regulations not only affects individuals but also disrupts the overall management of the pilgrimage system. Strict monitoring is being carried out to ensure compliance.

Meanwhile, preparations for Hajj 2026 are also underway. Flight operations for Pakistani pilgrims began on April 18 and will continue until May 21.

More than 179,000 pilgrims are expected to travel this year. This includes 120,000 pilgrims under the government scheme.

Airlines including PIA, Air Blue, Air Sial, and Saudia Airlines are operating flights from eight major cities in Pakistan. Officials say arrangements are being closely monitored to ensure smooth travel for pilgrims.

Saudi authorities have urged all pilgrims to follow rules carefully to avoid violating Hajj regulations during the holy season.
