In a major move to promote digital transactions, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched its nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign just ahead of Eidul Adha. The campaign kicked off on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and will run until the night of the religious festival.
This initiative, backed by banks across the country, aims to encourage cashless payments in livestock marketsโlocations that traditionally see heavy footfall and massive cash-based transactions during the sacrificial season. The SBP hopes to create a safer, faster, and more transparent payment environment during this busy period.

As part of the campaign, digital payment solutions will be available for a variety of transactions, including the purchase of sacrificial animals, water and fodder supplies, and even parking fees at designated markets. These efforts are designed to reduce the need for physical cash and improve overall transaction efficiency.
To support the smooth execution of this initiative, SBP has also raised digital transaction limits temporarily from May 19 to June 15, 2025. This move will allow buyers and traders to carry out high-value transactions more conveniently through digital channels.
According to predictions from the Pakistan Meteorological Department and astronomers, the moon for Zul Hijjah is expected to be sighted on May 28, placing Eidul Adha likely on June 7 across Pakistan.
