LAHORE – The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province for 10 days. The restrictions will remain in place from October 6 to October 15. According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the decision covers public places across the province. The restrictions aim to regulate public gatherings and processions during the specified period.
Under the order, gatherings of five or more people are prohibited in public areas. The restriction also applies to roads and open spaces across Punjab. Processions involving five or more people have also been banned under the Section 144 restrictions. Authorities will enforce the order throughout the 10-day period.
However, the restrictions include exemptions for certain religious and family-related activities. Weddings are not covered by the ban on gatherings. Funeral prayers and burials are also exempt from the restrictions. People will therefore be allowed to attend these activities during the restriction period.
The order also does not apply to mosques and other places of worship. Religious activities at these locations can continue under the stated exemptions. The provincial government has not announced a complete ban on all public movement. Instead, the order focuses on gatherings and processions involving five or more people.
The Section 144 order will remain effective until October 15 unless the government announces any changes. Authorities are expected to monitor compliance across different districts. The latest restrictions come as Punjab authorities continue to manage public gatherings and security concerns. Officials have urged people to follow the order during the specified period.

Citizens planning public activities should remain aware of the restrictions. Organisers of gatherings and processions may face action if they violate the order. The Punjab Home Department spokesperson confirmed the duration and scope of the restrictions. Further instructions could be issued if the situation requires additional measures.
