ISLAMABAD – Senior Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader and Senator Irfan Siddiqui has passed away after a short illness, his family confirmed on Monday.
According to reports, Irfan Siddiqui’s son, Imran Siddiqui, announced his father’s passing in a heartfelt post on social media. “Senator Irfan Siddiqui has passed away,” he wrote, expressing deep grief and calling his father his “teacher and a symbol of love.” He also prayed for the eternal peace of his father’s soul.
Family sources confirmed that the burial will take place at the H-11 graveyard in Islamabad.
The news of Irfan Siddiqui’s death has sent shockwaves through political circles across Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and several federal ministers expressed profound sorrow over his demise. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif also extended condolences to the family, describing his passing as a “great loss to the nation.”
Political leaders from across party lines paid tribute to his services as a writer, educationist, and lawmaker. They remembered him for his dedication, intellect, and decades-long contribution to journalism and politics.
A day before his death, reports surfaced that the senator had been hospitalized due to health complications and later placed on a ventilator. Despite medical efforts, he could not recover.
