Seven Dead in Twin IED Blasts in Bannu, Three Injured

BANNU: At least seven people lost their lives and three others were injured in two roadside bomb explosions in the Maraka Baira area of Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed.

According to local authorities, the first explosion occurred when a passenger van was traveling from Hathi Khel village towards Bannu. The vehicle was struck by an explosive device planted along the roadside.

The blast caused severe damage to the van and killed five passengers on the spot. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

District Police Officer Yasir Afridi said that a second explosion took place shortly after the first incident. The second blast occurred at the same location while rescue efforts were underway.

Two individuals who had reached the area to assist victims were killed in the second explosion. Authorities also reported damage to a vehicle caught near the blast site.

Rescue teams and law enforcement personnel quickly responded to the scene. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a hospital for further procedures and treatment.

Officials said the condition of the injured is being monitored. Security forces also secured the area following the explosions to prevent any further incidents.

The twin blasts have raised concerns about security in the region. Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the nature of the attack and identify those responsible.

Police and other security agencies are collecting evidence from the scene. Investigators are also examining the explosive devices used in the incident.
