Shah Mehmood Qureshi Moved to Adiala Jail as Charges Loom in GHQ Attack Case

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former foreign minister, has been transferred to Adiala Jail, where he faces formal indictment related to the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ). This case is part of the broader investigation into the violent protests that erupted following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan.

On Sunday, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) held proceedings for 13 of the 14 cases linked to the May 9 incident at Adiala Jail, with hearings adjourned until January 6. The court has also issued a plea to cancel the bail of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur due to his repeated absence from court. Prominent figures like former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad and ex-Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat attended the hearing.

Additionally, arrest warrants were issued last week for 25 PTI leaders, including Gandapur and former ministers Shibli Faraz, Kanwal Shauzab, and Shehryar Afridi, for failing to appear in the ongoing GHQ attack case.

In a separate development, arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, were cancelled after her appearance in court for the £190 million reference and Toshakhana 2 cases. Both Bibi and Imran Khan submitted their statements, with Bushra Bibi opting not to call any witnesses in her defense.
