The Shaheen Chowk Underpass project in Islamabad has entered its final construction phase, with completion expected within a month. Once operational, the underpass will significantly reduce traffic congestion and enhance road safety in the capital city.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the site on Friday to inspect progress and praised the pace of construction. He directed officials to continue work around the clock to meet the completion deadline.
βThe early completion of this project is essential to ease public difficulties, especially during rush hours,β Naqvi said. He emphasized that maintaining quality and efficiency should remain top priorities as the work nears its final stages.
The minister described the Shaheen Chowk Underpass as a modern and vital addition to Islamabadβs infrastructure. He noted that it will help ensure smoother traffic flow at one of the busiest intersections in the city, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
During the visit, the CDA Member Engineering briefed the minister about the construction timeline and progress. He assured that all available resources are being used to complete the project on time.
Naqvi reaffirmed the governmentβs commitment to solving urban traffic challenges. βRelieving citizens from traffic problems is our top priority,β he stated, highlighting the importance of timely infrastructure development.
The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is part of broader efforts to improve Islamabadβs transport network. Once completed, it is expected to shorten travel times, reduce fuel consumption, and improve the overall driving experience in the federal capital.
As the deadline approaches, both the government and the Capital Development Authority remain confident that the underpass will be opened to the public soon, marking another milestone in the cityβs modernization efforts.
