PM Shehbaz Sharif Given Guard of Honour as Pakistan, Malaysia Strengthen Ties

KUALA LUMPUR β€” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Malaysia for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. The visit began with a warm red-carpet welcome at the Perdana Putra Complex, the heart of Malaysia’s government.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim personally received Shehbaz Sharif, marking a significant moment in diplomatic relations between the two Muslim-majority nations. The ceremony included a guard of honour, reflecting the strong mutual respect and anticipation for enhanced cooperation.

During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif will hold one-on-one and delegation-level talks with his Malaysian counterpart. The discussions will focus on expanding collaboration in key sectors, including trade, investment, the Halal industry, IT and telecommunications, energy, infrastructure, education, and the digital economy. Both leaders are expected to explore new opportunities to boost economic and strategic partnerships between the two countries.

Officials have indicated that several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are likely to be signed during the trip. These initiatives are expected to inject fresh momentum into Pakistan–Malaysia relations and open new avenues for mutual growth and prosperity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur’s Bunga Raya International Airport on Sunday night, he was received by Malaysia’s Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, and senior diplomats.

Before leaving Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about the visit, describing it as an opportunity to enhance trade, economic engagement, and diplomatic cooperation with Malaysia.
