Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Monday for a daylong visit to inaugurate the renovated Karachi Cantt Railway Station. He was received at the airport by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other senior officials.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz Sharif inspected the station’s upgrades and reviewed the modern facilities provided to enhance passenger experience. Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi briefed the prime minister on the improvements, highlighting features designed for convenience and comfort.
The renovation project at Karachi Cantt Railway Station includes two modern lounges, three waiting halls, executive washrooms, and four newly installed escalators. An information desk has also been added to assist passengers with travel-related queries.
Officials said the project aims to provide a world-class experience to travelers while improving the overall efficiency and functionality of the station. PM Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Railways and the Railways Ministry for completing the upgrades in a timely manner.
The inauguration also demonstrates the government’s commitment to modernizing Pakistan’s rail infrastructure. The upgraded lounges and waiting areas feature comfortable seating, proper lighting, and enhanced facilities to ensure passengers have a pleasant experience while using the station.
PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Karachi Cantt Station underscores the importance of improving public transport infrastructure in major cities. Officials noted that the renovated station will not only serve local commuters but also support the growing number of travelers across the country.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi said that the government plans to replicate such modern facilities at other major railway stations to provide passengers with safe, comfortable, and efficient travel options.
