PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets Bangladesh Adviser to Boost Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met Bangladesh’s Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, in Islamabad. The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing relations with Dhaka.

During the discussion, PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh share common history, culture, and faith, which form the foundation of their brotherly relations. He stressed the importance of boosting cooperation in trade, academic exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.

PM Shehbaz also recalled his previous meetings with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in New York and Cairo. He highlighted Yunus’ desire to deepen ties between the two countries.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral relations. He noted the ongoing academic exchanges, increasing trade, and growing people-to-people connections as encouraging signs of stronger cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan accompanied Dr. Khalid Hossain during the meeting. The adviser handed over a letter from Chief Adviser Yunus to PM Shehbaz Sharif. The letter expressed condolences over recent floods in Pakistan and offered Bangladesh’s support and assistance.

Dr. Khalid Hossain reaffirmed that the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are firmly anchored in shared historical links and faith. He also discussed the early resumption of direct flights between the two countries to promote travel, trade, and cultural exchanges.

PM Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his invitation to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus for an official visit to Pakistan. In response, Dr. Khalid Hossain conveyed an invitation for PM Shehbaz to visit Bangladesh.

The meeting highlighted both nations’ commitment to deepening cooperation and building stronger bilateral ties, focusing on trade, education, culture, and humanitarian support.
