Terror Attack in Balochistan’s Kachi District Leaves SHO Martyred, Two Militants Killed

QUETTA – A deadly terrorist attack struck Balochistan’s Kachi district on Monday as heavily armed militants stormed a police station and several government offices, leaving the Station House Officer (SHO) martyred and two attackers killed.

According to local officials, the assault began around 4:15 pm when militants armed with sophisticated weapons attacked the Bhag police station, Levies headquarters, a government bank, and nearby public offices. The sudden strike spread panic in the remote town, located nearly 200 kilometers from Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan.

Security forces, including police and paramilitary troops, quickly responded to the assault. In the intense exchange of fire, two militants were shot dead, while SHO Lutf Khosa embraced martyrdom while defending his post. Authorities said the attackers failed in their attempt to capture key government buildings due to the swift and brave counteraction by law enforcement agencies.

Videos circulating on social media showed scenes of chaos, with armed men patrolling the streets and vandalizing bank property before escaping. The situation has since been brought under control, though search operations are ongoing to track down the remaining assailants.

Officials suspect that Indian-backed Baloch separatist outfits were behind the attack, as such groups have repeatedly targeted security installations and government offices across Balochistan’s mineral-rich areas.

The recent violence has once again highlighted the deteriorating security situation in the province. Experts warn that militant groups appear to be intensifying their activities, exploiting the region’s remote terrain and limited security infrastructure.

Provincial authorities have vowed to tighten security measures and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Meanwhile, the people of Balochistan continue to demand lasting peace and protection from recurring militant violence.
