Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has invited Chinese companies to invest in clean energy and modern water desalination projects across the province. He highlighted opportunities in solar and wind energy during a meeting with senior officials of a Chinese business group.

The chief minister is currently visiting China to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation. During the meeting, he welcomed Chinese expertise in developing sustainable energy projects.

“We will welcome Chinese expertise and investment in clean energy projects,” Murad Ali Shah said.

The discussions focused on renewable energy, water shortages, and modern technologies. These areas could play an important role in supporting Sindh’s long-term development.

Sindh CM Highlights Solar and Wind Energy Potential

The Sindh CM discussed the province’s potential for investment in solar and wind energy. He said cooperation with Chinese companies could help advance clean energy projects.

Renewable energy can support efforts to diversify electricity sources and promote sustainable development. Chinese expertise and investment could help introduce modern technologies to Sindh.

The meeting also explored ways to encourage cooperation between the provincial government and Chinese businesses. The discussions reflected Sindh’s interest in attracting investment for major infrastructure and development projects.

Sindh CM Shows Interest in Shanghai Electric Desalination Technology

Water desalination was another major topic during the meeting. Murad Ali Shah expressed particular interest in technology developed by Shanghai Electric.

Company representatives briefed the chief minister on modern desalination projects and their capacity to process large amounts of water.

Officials said a desalination plant operated by Shanghai Electric in China’s Hebei province purifies 75,000 tons of water daily.

They also discussed a multi-effect distillation (MED) plant included in the Hebei project. According to the briefing, the MED facility processes 25,000 tons of water each day.

The information drew the Sindh CM’s attention to the potential use of similar technology in Pakistan. Desalination could provide an additional source of water for areas facing shortages.

Desalination Projects Could Help Karachi

Murad Ali Shah said modern desalination projects could prove useful in Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh. These locations face challenges related to water availability and growing demand.

Desalination technology removes salts and other impurities from seawater, making it suitable for various uses after appropriate treatment. Such projects could help diversify water supplies in coastal communities.

The chief minister invited the Chinese business group to introduce modern desalination solutions in Sindh. However, the reference information did not confirm any final agreement or project launch.

Any future development would require further planning and assessment. Authorities and investors would need to consider project costs, energy requirements, infrastructure, and long-term sustainability.

Clean Energy and Water Technology for Sustainable Development

The discussions highlighted the potential benefits of combining renewable energy with modern water treatment systems. Solar and wind power could support sustainable development while desalination technology could help address water shortages.

Murad Ali Shah said clean energy, desalination, and advanced technologies could contribute to the province’s development.

The visit reflects Sindh’s efforts to attract Chinese investment in key sectors. Further cooperation could create opportunities for infrastructure development and improved access to water.

The proposed initiatives remain subject to future discussions and implementation decisions. Their progress will depend on the interest of investors and the feasibility of projects in Sindh.
