Sindh Expands Pink Scooter Scheme to New Cities

Sindh Expands Pink Scooter Scheme to New Cities

The Sindh Government has decided to expand its pink electric scooter scheme to more districts, continuing efforts to improve womenโ€™s mobility. The next distribution ceremony will take place in Sukkur on Friday, April 17, under the supervision of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority.

This move follows the governmentโ€™s earlier decision to extend the initiative beyond Karachi, where the program was first launched successfully. Authorities have now included Hyderabad and Sukkur in the next phase of the rollout to reach more beneficiaries.

Under the scheme, electric scooters are being provided free of cost to selected women to support their daily travel and independence. Officials say the initiative is aimed at addressing transport challenges faced by women, especially students and working professionals across the province.

Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including being permanent residents of Sindh and either students or employed women. They are also required to possess a valid driving license for a motorbike or car to qualify for the scheme.

The program has already shown a positive response in Karachi, where many women have received scooters and benefited from improved mobility. Authorities plan to continue expanding the scheme to additional districts, making transport more accessible and empowering women across Sindh.
