The Sindh government has once again extended the deadline for the issuance of new Ajrak design number plates for all types of vehicles. The new deadline is now December 31, 2025, giving vehicle owners more time to replace their old plates.
Previously, the Excise and Taxation Department had set October 31, 2025, as the final date for the replacement. However, due to pending registrations and growing demand, the government decided to provide an additional two months for the process.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh Excise Department, “The government of Sindh is pleased to extend the timeline for replacement of existing number plates with new security-featured number plates to December 31, 2025, instead of October 31, 2025.”
Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla confirmed that only official Excise offices are authorized to issue the new Ajrak design number plates. He warned that any plates obtained from unauthorized agents or shops will not be considered valid under the law.
Explaining the new features, the minister said that the Ajrak design number plates come with advanced security elements. These include unique background threads, 3D holograms, and barcodes that make them more secure and traceable. The new design also reflects Sindh’s cultural identity through the inclusion of the traditional Ajrak pattern.
The initiative aims to improve the vehicle registration system and curb the use of duplicate or fake number plates. The Excise Department has urged vehicle owners to visit their nearest authorized office to obtain the new plates before the extended deadline.
With the new extension, the Sindh government hopes to ensure full compliance across the province while promoting safety and authenticity in vehicle identification.
