The Sindh government has approved the launch of a facial recognition attendance system for teachers in six districts. The new system will become operational from August 17 as part of efforts to improve school management and accountability.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced the decision after chairing a meeting of the School Education Department. The session was attended by Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, and other senior education officials.
According to the chief minister, the facial recognition attendance system, known as Frames, will monitor teachers’ attendance in schools. Officials believe the technology will help improve transparency and strengthen administrative oversight across educational institutions.
Murad Ali Shah described the project as an important step toward modernizing governance in the education sector. He said the new attendance system will support better monitoring and encourage greater discipline in schools.
The chief minister added that improved attendance monitoring can contribute to stronger academic performance. He said efficient school management is necessary to achieve better educational outcomes for students.
During the meeting, Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah briefed participants on the project. He said all technical preparations for implementing the system have been completed.
According to the education minister, data-based governance will strengthen education administration. He said the new technology will help authorities monitor attendance records more accurately and improve decision-making.
The chief minister directed the School Education Department to ensure the successful implementation of the project. He stressed that teachers’ attendance remains essential for improving the quality of education in government schools.
Murad Ali Shah also said every child has the right to receive a standard education. He noted that regular teacher attendance plays a key role in providing quality learning opportunities for students.
Officials were instructed to establish an effective support and monitoring mechanism during the early stages of implementation. The chief minister said school administrations should receive all necessary technical assistance to ensure the system operates smoothly.
The government plans to closely monitor the initial rollout in the selected districts. Authorities will evaluate the system’s performance before expanding it to other parts of the province.
If the first phase proves successful, the facial recognition attendance system will be introduced gradually across all districts of Sindh. Officials believe the phased approach will allow improvements before province-wide implementation.
