In a decisive move, the Sindh government has announced plans to lodge FIRs against individuals who fail to return government vehicles or use them without authorization. The decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon at the Sindh Secretariat, according to a statement from the Sindh information department.
The meeting focused on addressing the misuse of government vehicles and explored ways to cut expenses associated with their use. Among the suggestions discussed was the auctioning of unused vehicles, with committee members calling for strict adherence to guidelines for the allocation and regulation of state vehicles.

Senior Minister Memon emphasized the importance of curbing unnecessary use of government resources, particularly the rising costs of petrol, oil, and lubricants. He also stressed the need for transparency in the auction process of idle vehicles, ensuring that all steps taken are clear and accountable.
Data from the Excise and Taxation Department reveals that the Sindh government owns around 12,000 vehicles across various departments, including education, health, police, and law. Sources indicate that many ministers, advisors, and politicians fail to return state vehicles after their terms end, using them for personal purposes.
The Sindh government’s decision to take legal action reflects its determination to implement reforms and reduce wasteful expenditure in the province.
