KARACHI โ The Sindh government has raised the upper age limit for government jobs, offering new hope for thousands of job seekers. The decision increases the age limit from 28 to 33 years, providing a five-year relief to overage candidates.
This move comes as a lifeline for young professionals who feared their chances of joining the public sector were lost. Many job seekers had grown overage during years of hiring freezes, leaving them unable to compete for government positions.
A formal notification was issued by the Services General Administration and Coordination Department, signed by Section Officer-II Nadeem Ahmed. The approval followed a decision by the Sindh Cabinet, signaling a fresh start for public-sector recruitment in the province.
For positions recruited through IBA Sukkur, the upper age limit has been increased from 28 to 33 years. Officials emphasized that this step aims to support deserving candidates who were previously barred due to prolonged hiring restrictions.
Meanwhile, positions under the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) now have an upper age limit of 30 years. A two-year relaxation has been granted in line with Supreme Court directives. This follows a period of disappointment for job seekers, as previous government policies had abolished age relaxations.
The new rules are expected to strengthen the provinceโs workforce by allowing talented candidates to apply for public-sector roles. Authorities say the reforms reflect a strong commitment to giving capable professionals their long-overdue opportunities.
Experts suggest that this age relaxation could encourage thousands of young candidates to pursue careers in government, boosting both motivation and the quality of applicants. The decision has been widely welcomed by education and career forums across Sindh.
