The Sindh government has launched a province-wide pre-monsoon vaccination campaign to protect livestock from seasonal diseases. The program aims to ensure healthy animals before the monsoon season begins.
The initiative, called the Pre-Monsoon Vaccination Program 2026–27, was inaugurated at the Government Veterinary Hospital in Landhi by Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Muhammad Ali Malkani. He emphasized that prevention is better than cure and said the program now covers the entire province.
Minister Malkani highlighted that veterinary facilities across Sindh are fully prepared, with sufficient vaccine supplies and all necessary arrangements in place. Livestock owners are encouraged to participate to protect their animals from infections and diseases common during the rainy season.
Karachi, home to one of the world’s largest cattle markets, was specifically mentioned. The minister urged livestock traders and farmers to take full advantage of the pre-monsoon vaccination drive to safeguard their herds. Healthy livestock, he noted, not only benefits individual owners but also contributes to the overall economic growth of Sindh.
The program includes vaccination for cattle, goats, sheep, and other domestic animals. Authorities are coordinating with local veterinary centers and mobile units to ensure vaccines reach even remote areas. This effort will help reduce disease outbreaks and improve animal health across the province.
Minister Malkani also assured farmers and traders that their concerns are being addressed. He stated that a sustainable solution would be implemented, involving all stakeholders, to ensure long-term benefits for the livestock community.
Officials stressed that the pre-monsoon vaccination campaign is part of a broader strategy to boost livestock productivity and economic resilience in Sindh. Early immunization before the monsoon is crucial to prevent common seasonal diseases and maintain the health of animals.
The Sindh government hopes this initiative will strengthen the livestock sector, safeguard livelihoods, and promote prosperity across rural and urban areas. Farmers are urged to participate actively and ensure their animals receive timely vaccination.
