Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon met with representatives from a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) bus manufacturer in Beijing on Wednesday, urging them to establish a manufacturing plant for EV buses in Karachi. The meeting, aimed at boosting green energy and electric mobility in Sindh, was attended by Sindh Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who offered full support from the provincial government.
Minister Memon highlighted the government’s commitment to modernizing public transportation while reducing carbon emissions. He assured the Chinese company that the Sindh government would provide various incentives to encourage investment, such as tax exemptions, land availability, and a simplified regulatory approval process.

The proposed EV bus plant is seen as an opportunity to create job opportunities, reduce environmental impact, and accelerate the transition to an efficient and sustainable transportation system in Karachi. The Chinese company representatives expressed interest in the invitation and agreed to conduct a feasibility study to assess the economic and technical viability of the project.
The collaboration is expected to pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future in Sindh’s public transport sector.
