The Sindh government has announced that registered motorcycle owners will receive Rs2,000 monthly amid rising petrol prices. The initiative aims to provide direct financial relief to daily commuters.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, speaking at a press conference in Karachi, explained that petrol prices are unlikely to decrease at pumps. Therefore, the government will transfer Rs2,000 monthly directly to verified motorcycle owners. Applications will be processed within two to three days, and motorcycles will be linked to CNICs for verification.
In addition to the subsidy, the government will waive motorcycle ownership transfer fees. Motorcyclists are encouraged to transfer vehicles to their own names. Eligible riders will also receive Rs100 per liter of fuel. Transfers are expected to begin 15 days after registration, with the Rs2,000 monthly payments disbursed regularly.
The Chief Minister also announced support measures for small farmers. Wheat prices will be set at Rs3,500 per maund, and farmers will receive Rs1,500 per acre to ease diesel cost burdens. Around 2 million acres of small farms are expected to benefit, while larger landowners are excluded from this support.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that these measures are part of the governmentโs broader strategy to ease financial pressures caused by global fuel price increases. The Rs2,000 monthly payments aim to help ordinary citizens cope with rising transportation costs.
Officials said the program is designed to benefit daily commuters, small-scale farmers, and the broader public affected by inflation. By providing Rs2,000 monthly, the Sindh government hopes to reduce the economic stress on motorcycle riders and maintain mobility during difficult times.
The initiative reflects a growing focus on targeted financial relief amid ongoing global economic challenges. Citizens are urged to register promptly to ensure they receive the full benefit of the Rs2,000 monthly subsidy.
