The Sindh Health Department has released a detailed report highlighting the provinceβs malaria situation for the current year. According to the findings, more than 215,000 malaria cases have been reported so far in 2025.
Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho confirmed that a total of 2,416,427 blood samples were tested across the province between January 1 and October. Out of these, 215,270 individuals tested positive for malaria, ARY News reported on Thursday.
Dr. Pechuho emphasized that no malaria-related deaths have been recorded in Sindh this year. She said the provincial government is fully committed to eradicating malaria and controlling other vector-borne diseases through active prevention and treatment campaigns.
Health teams across Sindh continue to conduct testing, treatment, and spraying operations, especially in high-risk districts. In rural regions, field teams are going door to door to distribute mosquito nets and educate residents on how to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
The health minister added that the Sindh government, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and partner organizations, is implementing a comprehensive strategy to tackle malaria, dengue, and other vector-borne diseases. This includes improved surveillance, early diagnosis, and enhanced public awareness campaigns.
Dr. Pechuho urged citizens to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes, avoid water stagnation, and seek immediate medical help if they experience fever, chills, or flu-like symptoms.
She reiterated that the anti-malaria campaign is being carried out under an integrated control plan that combines community outreach, indoor spraying, and continuous testing. The minister assured that the government remains determined to reduce the spread of malaria across Sindh.
