Six Pakistanis Arrested in Saudi Arabia for Smuggling 71kg of Drugs

RIYADH โ€“ Saudi authorities have arrested six Pakistanis for receiving 71 kilograms of methamphetamine in the Riyadh region, the Saudi Ministry of Interior confirmed.

Security spokesman Talal al-Shalhoub said the suspects were apprehended while handling the large drug shipment. The operation highlights the kingdomโ€™s continued vigilance against illegal drug activities targeting public safety and national security.

In addition to this case, Saudi authorities successfully intercepted two major smuggling attempts, confiscating over 200 kilograms of illicit drugs during separate operations. Al-Shalhoub emphasized that the kingdom remains committed to strict enforcement measures and will hold all offenders accountable under the law.

The arrest of these six Pakistanis comes amid ongoing efforts by Saudi Arabia to combat drug trafficking. Authorities have repeatedly warned that drug-related crimes carry severe legal consequences. The statement reiterated that the country prioritizes protecting its youth and society from the harmful impact of narcotics.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia executed two Pakistani nationals in Makkah for attempting to smuggle heroin and other drugs. The individuals had concealed the narcotics in various parts of their bodies to evade detection. After being found guilty in court, their appeals were rejected by the Supreme Court, and a royal decree enforced the death sentence.

These incidents underline the strict stance of Saudi Arabia on drug-related crimes. Security experts say the arrests of these six Pakistanis and other drug seizures serve as a strong deterrent against smuggling networks operating in the kingdom.

Authorities continue to monitor borders and urban areas for illegal drug activity, working closely with international partners to prevent narcotics trafficking. The Saudi Ministry of Interior has urged citizens and residents to report suspicious activities and emphasized that anyone found violating drug laws will face severe punishment.
