Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has refuted Jazz’s defamation claim, asserting that gas was indeed being used to provide electricity to a mobile tower at the Karak site in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. SNGPL labeled Jazz’s claim as baseless and emphasized its commitment to business ethics.

The company reiterated that its team had conducted a raid on the Jazz mobile tower in Karak in the presence of law enforcement agencies, clarifying that the diesel generators at the tower were not operational, and gas was used to supply electricity.

SNGPL issued a recovery notice of Rs. 3.7 million for damage to its network and the national treasury, warning of legal action if the amount was not paid.

In response to SNGPL’s initial allegations of gas theft, Jazz had served the gas company with a Rs. 10 billion defamation notice.

Jazz maintained that there was no provision for natural gas use at any of its network sites across the country, corroborating this with a photo of the diesel generator shared by SNGPL in its public post on the matter.

Jazz emphasized that the accusation was frivolous and lacked merit, expressing concern that baseless accusations could harm investor confidence and potentially negatively impact Pakistan’s economy.
