Sohail Afridi and four other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures have been named as accused in the May 2023 attack on the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar. The case relates to the alleged vandalism and arson at the state broadcaster’s premises during the unrest.

The prosecution submitted a supplementary charge sheet to an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday. The document concerns the incident involving damage to the Radio Pakistan building. An official confirmed that the additional names had been included in the case.

According to the official, investigation officer DSP Khushal Khan prepared and submitted the supplementary charge sheet to the district public prosecutor. The prosecutor subsequently placed the document on the court file for further proceedings.

Besides Sohail Afridi, the individuals named in the charge sheet include former provincial ministers Taimoor Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash. PTI Peshawar district president Irfan Saleem and party activist Amir Khan Chamkani have also been included.

The case concerns the May 2023 unrest, when several public and government buildings were targeted following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan. The Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar was among the locations affected during the protests.

The supplementary charge sheet represents an additional development in the legal proceedings connected to the incident. It formally identifies the individuals the prosecution has named as accused in the case. Further proceedings will determine how the case progresses through the court.

The inclusion of Sohail Afridi and other PTI figures does not, by itself, establish their guilt. The allegations must be examined through the legal process, and the court will consider the evidence presented by the prosecution.

The case remains part of the wider legal action arising from the May 2023 violence. The supplementary document adds the named individuals to the proceedings concerning the alleged attack on the Radio Pakistan building.
